Overwhelming....

Alright for those expecting, have you registered yet?

Wow, so overwhelming with all the stuff out there and having to make so many choices. If its your first child you are kinda blind in knowing what is really needed and what is fluff. I think if I was having one it wouldnt be as hard but having two and two different genders, it has been difficult. I dont want to have neutral everything because I want my girl to be a girly and my son to be a boy so of course I registered for allot of the same thing just one blue and one pink. Our place is going to look so cliche...

For those breastfeeding, I have had a hard time deciding on which pump to invest in...I did find this website and it helped me make a decission so thought I would share. Looks like I am going to go with Ameda over Medela due to the sanitary reasons. Reviews look to be the same for both. If you have advise, feel free to leave it.

I know some may be wondering why I registered so early but due to traveling restrictions soon, my family lives in IL and wanted to have a baby shower for me. So I am having a baby shower on Aug 13th and will only be 21 weeks...oh well. I am excited to start getting things done and ready, maybe I wont feel so overwhelmed.

Other things I have done to prepare....
*cleaning the husband office/University of Illinois room out which will be the nursery. We dont have much storage being in a condo so it has not been fun plus having to get rid of allot.
*started this week we have ripped up all carpet in the house and going back with hard wood. Really excited about this because I know how nasty carpet can get and just makes me feel better knowing we will be breathing cleaner air and of course easier to clean stains up is a plus.

I went with the Medela pump - but I totally agree on the pink and blue...my twins share a room, and two walls are pink, and two are blue (opposing walls), with large chocolate brown polka dots on one long blue wall, and small scattered brown polka dots on the two pink walls. The other blue wall is plain and is where we hung the letters from their first names and framed baby pics - with a quote, "Even miracles take a little time."... Do what you love, no matter how "cliche"!

Phew, I just started my registry Friday night (same reason - early baby shower at 25w in Sept). Overwhelmed!!! I just wrote an email to girlfriends who have had kids in the last 18 months and asked for help - so far I've gotten lots of great advice!

I know what you mean about overwhelming. We are also trying so hard to ensure that each of your babies is an individual and have boy stuff and girl stuff and even found an awesome pram which is blue with stars one side and says 'Bro' and pink with flowers on the other side and says 'Sis'. Good luck figuring out what the real NEED is, but have fun with it. And as for getting your baby shower early, all the better becauese I have been told over and over that I had better be done by 28 weeks because at 28 weeks I will be the same size as a woman pregnant with a singleton at 40 weeks!

BTW I decided on the Medela on recommendation from a friend.

I have registered really early too, mainly because I'm super excited and didn't want to wait, but I'm also having a early (small) baby shower in September (26 weeks)

I read a really good book called "The Economical Baby Guide" it's written by 2 moms, it is on the "green" side, but tells you a lot about what you can live with and what you can live without, and gives you recommendations for the products you should have.

If you register in the store, make sure you go back online and look at the rating and read the reviews, it's helped me change a few of the items on my registries.
